Interested in donating your body to medical research? Contact the medical schools closest to you and ask to speak to the Department that operates the Body Bequeathal Program (donating your body to medical research.) Find out what their procedures and criteria are for accepting a body into their program. Every school runs their program differently, so be sure to ask any questions that you have – including any expenses that the school might want you to cover – to each school that you talk to. Not all schools will ask that you cover costs, but some departments that don’t have a large budget might. Also, just because you’re not suitable for one schools program doesn’t mean that another school won’t accept your donation.
Donating your body to medical research is a generous act. It is very important that you talk to your family about the decision and plan for it in advance.
**Please be aware: you cannot be an organ donor and donate your body to medical research.
