The Organ Donation and Transplant Association of Canada’s 4th Annual Golf Tournament was held on Monday June 16th, 2008 at the Royal Ontario Golf Club in Hornby. This years tournament was another successful event, raising over $17,500 to support the ODTAC’s mandate. We thank the golfers who supported the cause by raising sponsorship money to participate in this annual event.

Players get ready for our 5th Annual Golf Tournament to be held next summer!

Apache Canada’s Numb Bum Movie Marathon

On Thursday, January 25, 2007, two die-hard movie buffs (Ramsey Jones and Phil Seitz) endured the rigors of sleep depravation to help raise money for the Organ Donation and Transplant Association of Canada by taking part in Apache Canada’s Numb Bum Movie Marathon.

The goal was to watch feature length movies, non-stop, for 115 hours in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the “longest movie-watching marathon.” That meant 115 hours of X-Men, Lord of the Rings, Die Hard, Spiderman and others. In all, 54 movies needed to be watched over a span of nearly 5 days. At the time the world record sat at 114 hours and 6 minutes.

The marathon was tirelessly covered by the media; stories appeared on the internet, TV and in Newspapers across Canada. Though we fell short of the World Record, Phil and Ramsey did us proud by watching movies for over 70 hours.

The event took place at Deerfoot Meadows’ Future Shop and raised over $30,000 for the ODTAC. More importantly, The Numb Bum Movie Marathon captivated the Canadian public and thrust organ donor awareness into the media spotlight for almost a week solid.

This event was made possible by Apache Canada, Cardel Homes, Zip.ca, Country 105 FM and Criterion Pictures.
